Quality Policy

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) is the largest and the only interdisciplinary University in Greece and a pioneer in matters of European education policy. With 11 faculties and 41 schools, covers all scientific fields, innovates in the field of research internationally, promotes interdisciplinary knowledge and research systematically, and is widely recognized as a vibrant center of learning and research. The international presence of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki abroad is reinforced by the fact that it is a member of 73 international educational organizations, unions, and Universities’ networks as well as 16 student associations, aiming at the international collaboration of the academic community for the promotion and development of academic and research activities. AUTH has concluded inter-university agreements for academic cooperation with universities or equivalent institutions of higher education in Europe, the Balkan and Black Sea countries, Russia, U.S.A. and S. America, Africa, Australia, and The Near, Middle, and the Far East. The total amount of active agreements: 188. The University has been actively participating in the Erasmus Programme since 1987, accounting for approximately one-fourth of the total Erasmus mobility in Greece in the frame of Student for Studies Mobilities as well as Staff for Teaching Mobilities.

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has been active in the field of Lifelong Learning since 2012. Initially through the “Lifelong Learning Structure” (2012-2017) and then through the ” Center for Education and Lifelong Learning (KEDIVIM)” (2018-present). The Education and Lifelong Learning Center of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (KEDIVIM) was established under Ministerial Decree No. 229717 / Ζ1 (Greek Government Gazette 4B ‘/ 5-1-2018), following a proposal by the Senate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The Center is the academic unit that ensures coordination and interdisciplinary cooperation in the development of training programs, continuing education, training and in general lifelong learning. It operates in accordance with the provisions of article 48 of law 4485/17 (A 114), as it applies, and its  Rules of Procedure (Greek Government Gazette 374 / 2-2-2021 /Β΄). The Center’s functioning is integrated into the general strategy and educational policy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The Center organizes all non-formal education and non-formal learning activities, which include continuing education, training, and lifelong learning in general, based on the national and European institutional framework for lifelong learning. The Lifelong Learning Courses offered by AUTH operate within a framework that guarantees a high level of education compatible with the role of a public university, as well as the effectiveness, legitimacy, and validity of the educational services rendered. This framework also ensures the attestation of the certificates, the qualifications, and the credits offered upon the completion of the courses. Most of the courses offered are interdisciplinary and they are taught by Faculty Members from different departments of the university, or even, at times, from other universities or research institutes, or by independent instructors. The courses are offered in Greek or in the English language.
